BOOKINGS CLOSED: Lakemoor Alpacas Open Day - Alpaca Fibre and Crafts (Sunday 29 March)

Join us for a fibre-focused open day at Lakemoor Alpacas, designed especially for crafters and anyone with a passion for alpaca fleece.

Throughout your session you'll be able to discover the secrets of alpaca fibre, watch live demonstrations, and get hands on with traditional processes, and of course meet some of our friendly alpacas!

We’ll have a small group of alpacas in a pen where you can get up close, say hello, and take photos - the perfect chance to connect the fibre to the animals who grow it.

 

Demonstrations & Have-a-Go Activities

• Spinning – demonstrations on a spinning wheel. Have a go at using a spinning wheel or a drop spindle.

• Carding – demonstration on a small drum carder, then have a go at carding some alpaca fleece

• Fleece Skirting  – interactive fleece preparation

You’re very welcome to bring along your own alpaca fleece to talk through and work with.

This event is tailored for all alpaca fibre enthusiasts.
When booking, please let us know your specific interests in alpaca fleece so we can make your experience even better.

 

Session Times & Capacity

Each session has limited capacity.

• Morning: 9:30 - 12:00

• Afternoon: 13:30 – 16:00

This is a booking-only event due to limited parking.

Parking & Arrival

Main event parking - you will be contacted by email 1 week before the event to confirm parking arrangements and other details for your visit.

On-Site Parking

Available for:

• Visitors with disabilities

• Families with children under 5

Please do not arrive more than 15 minutes before your session.

Pushchairs are welcome, but please note that some farm tracks are uneven and may not be suitable.

Our shop will be open and stocked with:

• Raw fleece

• Yarn

• Socks

• Knitwear

• Alpaca gifts & goodies

Ticket Information

• Adults (18+) – £2

• Children (5-17) - £1

• Under 5s – Free

Refreshments

Delicious refreshments and homemade cake will be available.
All funds raised from refreshments and entry fees will go to Rachel’s London Marathon fundraising for Anthony Nolan.

Health & Safety

Lakemoor Alpacas is a working farm, so for everyone’s safety:

• A safety briefing will be given at the start of each session – please listen carefully.

• Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times and remain their responsibility throughout the visit.

• There is livestock, machinery and deep water on site.

• If you open a gate, please close it behind you.

• All vehicles and possessions are left at the owner’s risk – please do not leave valuables in your car. The car park will be unattended.

• Our staff and volunteers will be wearing lanyards – please follow their guidance so you can stay safe and enjoy your visit.
